Windows, Chrome (webkit) and Font Smoothing

When using certain font providers (in this case google fonts) you may notice that some fonts look jagged and sometimes unreadable.

Typically this isn't an issue on IE due to the ClearType setting and how IE smooths fonts, however there is no smoothing of fonts in webkit browsers on windows.

There are a few workarounds offered across the web but the one I found that works the best for me with the minimum of side effects is to add this to your css:

html {
    -webkit-text-stroke: 0.5px;

Some people recommend using a value of 1px however I found this to effect the text look and feel too much.
